Night Shift Blues.
The thing i dislike most about working full time nights is that my circadian rythm, which was always a little off kilter since i started at Barwon Health, is now completely stuffed.  My body does not know when to eat or sleep.  And with only two or three nights off inbetween blocks of work I no longer get the chance to normalise it.  I've taken to sleeping in late and and staying up really late (wee hours of the morn) on my days off to minimise the damage and make it easier to stay awake at work.  Dislike this immensely as I normally get up before 8 am on my days off... I feel like I've missed half the day by the time I'm out of bed now.  And I feel suddenly overwhelmingly tired in the middle of the afternoon and I have to down whatever I'm doing and just have a sleep.  In fact I feel tired all the time... which is why production has ground to a halt on the comic.  I'm simply too tired to do anything on my down time besides watch t.v. (normally only something I'd do if I'm desperately bored which I never am.), play some computer games or occassionally read.  That's when I get the time for it.

I'm taking holidays at the end of August and then going back to my normal working hours.  So the end of this is finally in sight.

*Hugs*. Sorry that you've been so run down. Here's hoping you get a long and fruitful rest next month to recharge your batteries.

Looking forward to it. Unfortunately my boss rang today about my leave application. She is under a ton of pressure to cover holiday shifts at a ward level and not to allow more then two Div. 1's (registered nurses) leave at any one time. (Except there are are over 30 RN's and each have 6 weeks leave per year... so do the maths because admin obviously haven't. :((( ) Anyway I convinced her I NEEDED a break before October, the next available space, so after some rangling we decided on two weeks over August/ September which is less then I wanted but... I get on really well with my boss and i understand she is between a rock and a hard place. She's trying hard to compromise so I won't hold it against her.

And at least after that you'll be back to part time work I hope. Take care of yourself!

Hi :)

Just wanted to let you know I friended you, but you're not under any obligation to friend back if you don't want to. I read the comic and I'm a bit of a medical nerd in my spare time.

Awww, getting your sleep-wake cycle mixed up is quite bad *comforts*

I hope you soon get it right again and find some time to really relax...

I also hope your holidays will turn out good and relaxing :)

(Woah, only allowed 2 out of 30 to have holidays at once??? That is quite ... overplanning... I just hope you enjoy your holidays regardless...)

Also a Happy (belated) Birthday to you *hugs*

*Expecting you to be and feel much better before returning to the comic* :)

(and thanks for letting us know how you are ... these last few months without knowing were quite unsettling...)

Ugh! Sympathies. I've been working on a deadline for work, and doing 14-hour work days. I have that same sort of drained, exhausted feeling.

(Long time reader of the comic, just stumbled across your LJ.) :)
